February 98 - Issue 20
Produced in between the two Coca-cola semi finals and suddenly
things were looking up. The miserable Christmas period was now a distant memory and
the form of the team was definitely returning. The highlight of this period was a
fine victory at Upton Park including a classy performance from Emmanuel Petit.
Eddy Pratt wrote of Petit... "Its
easy to imagine him in a Paris cafe, black polo neck sweater and leather jacket, smoking
Gitanes and drinking his favourite pastis, discussing Philosophy...Emmanuel doesn't
exactly fit the archetypal Arsenal midfield dynamo image."

The big story at the time, was a rumoured move to Wembley.
Surely this was just an attempt to put pressure on Islington council. Wasn't
it??? In any case, surely no Arsenal fan would ever want to move to the national

In this months issue of Highbury High, we spoke to two high
profile Arsenal supporters about their views on Wenger's Arsenal.
Simon Rose interviewed Melvyn Bragg. Bragg's view of the managers:
"My loyalty's with Wenger, but what I like about
George Graham, is the quality about him. He could be bottom of the league and he'd
still say...all we have to do is win the next eighteen matches, and we're perfectly
capable of doing that."
Ian Trevett interviewed Clive
Anderson. Clive says of Ian Wright: "If he gets too good at Chat shows, maybe I can take over from him up
front for Arsenal."
