A WEB-SURFER'S GUIDE TO BACTERIA ASSOCIATED WITH INFECTIONS IN HUMANS

Welcome to this site. Work on this site began in February 2000. It is intended that all species of bacteria will be listed for which there is evidence of association with infection in humans. The site is aimed at clinicians and microbiologists who require the following kinds of information: a comprehensive list of medically significant bacteria, current nomenclature for such organisms, concise information on clinical significance and published data on therapies and antimicrobial susceptibilities of seldom-encountered bacteria.

It is hoped that readers will facilitate the realisation of the full potential of this site by emailing new information on emerging pathogens and novel treatment and susceptibility data as they are published.

If you know of a bacterium missing from these lists for which there is published evidence of possible involvement in human infection, please email the details to me so that they may be added to this site.
