Painting

After his two years of artistic training a Goldsmiths' College, Welch painted stylish, decorative pictures including surrealist still-lifes, fantastical figures in fanciful landscapes, pen and ink decorations and self-portraits.
His paintings were exhibited in the 1930s and 40s in the prestigious and adventurous Leicester Galleries and today there are examples of Welch's work in the National Portrait and Tate Galleries in London.
